What it is
Make Academy is the official training site for Make, the visual automation platform. It offers self-paced courses arranged by level: Make Foundation, Make Basics, Make Intermediate and Make Advanced, each followed by an assessment. There is also an Automation to AI Agents: Foundation learning path that goes from AI and large language model basics to building AI agents in Make; Make describes it as six courses and one assessment, earning an AI Automation Explorer badge.
Who it is for
Anyone starting with Make, from people who have never automated anything to developers who want to learn Make's specific concepts quickly. It is especially useful for students and freelancers who plan to build Make scenarios for clients, because the badges and certification give a small, checkable signal alongside a portfolio.
Cost and certification
Make says the courses and certification are free. Completing courses earns digital badges you can share, and completing the levels earns official certification. Courses come with six months of access from the day you enrol in each one, according to Make, so plan to finish within that window.
Time needed
Third-party summaries put the full path from Foundation to Advanced at around 15 hours; Make's own announcement said getting started takes minutes and certification a few hours per level. Budget more if you rebuild every example yourself, which is strongly recommended.
Is it worth it?
Yes. It is free, official and designed around Make's own concepts: scenarios, modules and bundles, mapping and functions, routers and filters, iterators and aggregators, data stores, error handlers and credits. Learning these properly early saves a lot of confusion and wasted credits. It will not teach you HTTP and API basics in depth, how to scope or price client work, or how to handle client data responsibly; you need other resources for those.
Prerequisites
None for Foundation. A free Make account is enough for the exercises, though some features need a paid plan.
What you can do after
Build and debug multi-step scenarios with branching, list handling and error handlers, estimate credit usage, and start adding AI modules and agents.
Common questions
Do I need to pay for Make to take the courses? No, the free plan works for most exercises.
Is the certification recognised? It shows you completed Make's official assessments; clients will care more about the results you can show.
Where do I go after the Academy? The Make Help Center for reference and the Make Community for questions.

Writing only gets you so far. If you want an answer to your situation rather than the general case, book a session and we will work through it together. Sessions are free for approved Sefism members, and a few slots open each week.
