What the course covers

• Day 12: search, indexing and retrieval
• Day 13: location and booking services
• Day 14: coordination and configuration

A conclusion and a final exam close the course. Every design ends with one consolidated architecture diagram, the key decisions and what each costs, what breaks first under load, and likely follow-up questions with answers. Daily self-checks ask you to compare the day's designs rather than just recall them.

How the 14-step framework helps

A fixed sequence (scope, requirements, estimates, API, data model, high-level design, deep dives, bottlenecks and so on) stops you freezing, wandering, or drawing boxes before asking questions. Applying it to more than 30 systems over two weeks makes the opening minutes of any design automatic, which leaves your energy for the deep dive.

How to get the most from it

• Learn the framework first and rehearse it out loud until you can run through it without notes.
• Stick to the daily rhythm. Each day groups related systems, so the comparisons build intuition.
• Attempt one system per day yourself before reading its walkthrough.
• Use the follow-up questions at the end of each design as mock interview prompts.
• Budget realistically. The stated study time is about 60 hours, so fourteen days means roughly four hours a day; spreading it over three to four weeks is also fine.

Run a consistent, time-boxed approach on any design question, reason about read-heavy versus write-heavy systems, design infrastructure components as well as apps, and handle money-safe and real-time designs with confidence.

Can I really finish it in 14 days? Yes if you can commit several hours a day. Otherwise follow the same daily order over a longer period.

Best for: engineers with a design round a few weeks away who want a structured, intensive plan.
