Mastersportal

A large search engine for masters programmes worldwide, filterable by subject, country, tuition, duration and language. It is the quickest way to see what exists before you narrow a shortlist, as long as you confirm every detail on the university's own page.

What it is

Mastersportal is a search site run by Studyportals, a company that lists degree programmes from universities around the world. You can search masters programmes by discipline, such as computer science, data science or cyber security, then filter by country, tuition range, programme length, language of instruction, study format and start date. Each listing shows a summary of the programme, typical entry requirements, tuition as reported by the university or collected by the site, and a link to the university.

Who it is for

It suits students at the very start of their search, when the question is "what programmes in my field exist in countries I can afford?" rather than "which of these three should I pick?". It is especially useful for comparing countries you have not considered, since a filter on tuition often shows affordable options in Europe or Asia that never come up in conversations about the usual destinations.

How to use it well

  1. Search your field broadly and filter by the countries and tuition range your budget allows.
  2. Save 20 to 30 candidates.
  3. Open each university's own programme page and check the module list, entry requirements, deadlines and fees there. Treat the Mastersportal listing as a pointer, not the source of truth.
  4. Cut the list down using the curriculum, research fit, graduate outcomes and total cost, as the roadmap explains.

Is it worth it?

As a discovery tool, yes. The breadth is the point: as of 2026-09 the homepage says it lists more than 95,000 masters programmes. The weakness is accuracy on details. Fees, deadlines and requirements change every year and listings can lag behind, and some listings are promoted by universities that pay for visibility. Never rely on it for a deadline, a fee or an English score; always confirm on the official university page.

Free or paid

Searching and reading listings is free. The site makes money from universities and from optional services, such as help with applications or English tests. You do not need any paid service to use the search well, and you should be cautious about paying any third party to apply on your behalf.

Common questions

Is a high position in search results a sign of quality? No. Ordering can reflect relevance and promotion, not quality. Judge programmes on the evidence you gather.

Does it list scholarships? It has scholarship listings too, but confirm every scholarship on the funder's own page before you plan around it.

Should I apply through it? Apply through the university's own application system unless the university itself tells you otherwise.
