What it is

Mobbin collects screens and user flows from real, published apps and websites and makes them searchable by app, pattern and element. Instead of guessing how others design a sign-up flow, a filter panel or an error state, you can look at many real examples side by side.

Why designers use it

Good design often starts from known patterns. Before designing a feature, looking at how several well-made products solve the same problem helps you:

  • follow conventions users already know (Jakob's law);
  • notice edge cases others handle, such as empty and error states;
  • explain in a case study which options you considered and why you chose one.

For learners, recreating a real screen from Mobbin in Figma, measuring its spacing and type, is one of the best visual design exercises.

Free versus paid (as of 2026-09)

Mobbin's pricing page lists:

  • Free: limited access to apps and sites; flows are not included.
  • Pro: $10 per month billed yearly, for one member, with all apps and sites, flows, animations, unlimited collections and more.
  • Team: $16 per member per month billed yearly.
  • Enterprise: custom pricing.

The page also mentions a discount for students and educators; check the current terms on the official pricing page. Quarterly billing is offered at a higher effective price than yearly.

Is it worth paying for?

For a learner, the free tier plus your own screenshots of apps you use is usually enough. A paid plan can make sense when you design professionally and need to research patterns often. Do not pay for a year before you know you will use it weekly.

How to use it well

  • Collect three to five examples of a pattern before designing it, then write down what they have in common and where they differ.
  • Look at complete flows, not just single pretty screens.
  • Use it for inspiration and conventions, not copying. Copying another product's visual identity into your portfolio undermines it.

Free alternatives

Take screenshots of apps on your own phone, study the GOV.UK Design System patterns, and use Material Design 3 and Apple's Human Interface Guidelines for platform conventions.

Common questions

Is it only for mobile? No, it now includes websites as well as apps.

Can I use the screenshots in my portfolio? Use them for research notes and cite the source; do not present them as your own work.
