What it is
This GitHub repository is the source of remoteintech.company, a community-maintained directory of tech companies that work remotely. Each company has a page, contributed through pull requests and checked by a validation bot, describing the company and how it works remotely. As of 2026-09 the repository has about 40.9k stars and is actively maintained (source: GitHub).
Why it is useful
Most remote roles are posted first, or only, on company careers pages. A directory of remote-friendly companies gives you a starting list you can check directly, which beats relying only on crowded job boards. Company entries often say whether the team is fully remote and where people are based, which helps you judge remote-first versus remote-friendly.
How to use it
- Browse the directory at remoteintech.company and pick companies in your field and size range.
- For each, open the company's own careers page and look for the countries or regions it hires in.
- Keep the ones that can hire in your country, directly, through an employer of record or as contractors.
- Check their careers pages every week or two, and look for people there you could reach for a referral.
Limits to keep in mind
It is a community list, so entries vary in detail and some may be out of date. Being listed does not mean a company is hiring now, or hiring in your country. Treat it as a map, then verify on the company's own site.
Contributing
If you find a remote company missing, you can add it through a pull request following the contributing guide. It is a small, real open source contribution, and the kind of evidence of written collaboration remote employers like.
Common questions
Is this a job board? No, it lists companies, not current openings.
Do I need to use GitHub to read it? No, the website is easier to browse.
How often should I check companies? Every week or two for your top list is enough.
