What this checklist is
A step-by-step checklist for a developer portfolio website. It covers the opening that tells visitors who you are, how to present three to five projects with problem, role, stack and outcome, live demos and code links, performance against Core Web Vitals, accessibility against WCAG 2.2, SEO and link previews, a custom domain with HTTPS, a working contact route, light analytics, and keeping the site current.
It has 8 chapters and 40 checks, each with how to verify it and how much it matters. For developers, students and fresh graduates.
Chapter by chapter
1. Opening and structure (5 checks)
The top of the page decides whether a visitor stays. Say who you are, what you do and what you want, then make everything else easy to find.
2. Projects (7 checks)
Projects are the evidence behind everything else on the site. Show three to five strong ones, each with the problem, your role, the stack and the outcome.
3. Performance (4 checks)
A portfolio is a sample of your work. A slow, jumpy page on mobile undercuts everything it says, so check it against Core Web Vitals.
4. Accessibility (6 checks)
An accessible portfolio works for more visitors and shows you know how to build for real users. Check the basics against WCAG 2.2.
5. SEO basics and link previews (5 checks)
People will search your name and share your link. Make sure search results and link previews show the right title, description and image.
6. Domain, HTTPS and hosting (4 checks)
A custom domain makes the site yours for the long term. Set it up securely and make sure it keeps working.
7. Contact and analytics (5 checks)
Make it easy to reach you without exposing private details, and measure just enough to know the site is working.
8. Keep it current (4 checks)
An outdated portfolio suggests you stopped building. A short review every few months keeps it accurate and working.
How it works on Sefism
The checklist is one page: each check has a severity (must, should or nice to have) and a concrete way to verify it, and members can tick checks off as they go. The opening chapters are open to everyone. Adding it to your account uses credits, opens every chapter and keeps your progress.
Every claim is checked against the sources listed on the page (8 cited).
