A short, opinionated guide naming the nine subjects that matter and exactly one book and one course for each. Its value is in everything it leaves out.

What it is
A page that says: here are the nine areas of computer science worth self studying, here is the single best book and video course for each, and here is roughly how long each takes. Programming, architecture, algorithms, mathematics, operating systems, networking, databases, languages and compilers, distributed systems.
Why one recommendation per subject is the point
Curated lists usually offer five options per topic, which restores exactly the decision paralysis they were supposed to remove. Committing to one is more useful, and the authors defend each choice, so you can disagree deliberately rather than by accident.
The honest scope
This is a multi year plan, not a weekend one. Doing two subjects properly beats sampling all nine, and the guide says so.
Best for: self taught engineers who want to close the gap with a formal education and are prepared to do it seriously.

Writing only gets you so far. If you want an answer to your situation rather than the general case, book a session and we will work through it together. Every session is free; a few slots open each week.
