AI data and training work

Stage 1 · Lesson 6 of 6

What the 2026 demand data says

What AI data work is and why it exists

There is real evidence of demand. 's In-Demand Skills 2026 report found that demand for AI data annotation and labelling on its marketplace grew 154 percent year over year. 's Jobs on the Rise 2026 list for the US included data among the fastest-growing roles.

AI labs keep needing specialist feedback too, which is why platforms now recruit graduates, coders and professionals rather than only general workers. Read the evidence carefully, though. Fast growth from a small base still means many applicants per opening, much of the demand is for specialists or particular languages, and these figures describe the US and global marketplaces, not your city. Simple labelling is also being automated, with humans checking machine labels instead.
