Stage 2 · Lesson 6 of 7
Choosing plugins safely
are add-ons that give WordPress new features, and every one is code with full access to the site. Before installing one, from the official or anywhere else, check a few signals. When was it last updated?
How many sites use it? How does the author answer support questions? Is it tested with the current WordPress version?
Is the author a known company or developer? Prefer one plugin that does a job well over three that overlap. Remove anything unused, because inactive plugins can still be a risk if left installed.
This habit carries into the security stage, where outdated plugins are the most common way sites are hacked.
Common trapnulled plugins, pirated copies of premium plugins, which are a common way reaches client sites.
