Forward deployed and solutions engineering

Stage 2 · Lesson 4 of 6

Git and code review in a customer's repository

Core engineering you still need

At a customer you work inside their repository, with their branching rules, reviewers, tests and deployment pipeline. Your code only counts once their team accepts it and can maintain it. Learn to work in small branches, write clear commit messages and open small with a short description of why, what changed and how you tested it.

Read their contribution guide and match their style, even where you would choose differently. Ask who reviews and how long reviews usually take, so you can plan around it.

Common trapa large pull request dropped at the end of an engagement, which nobody on the customer side has time to review and nobody wants to own.

A question to check yourself, an AI practice session and 1 cheat sheet entry come with the full roadmap. Unlock
