Stage 2 · Lesson 3 of 6

HTTP, REST and reading a failed request

Core engineering you still need

Nearly every integration speaks . A request has a method (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE), a URL, headers such as the authorisation , and often a body. The response has a status code and a body.

REST is a common style that organises URLs around resources, such as /customers/42/orders. Learn to send requests with curl or Postman and to read status codes: 2xx worked, 4xx means the caller made a mistake, 5xx means the server failed, and means you are sending too many requests. Reading a failed request carefully solves most integration bugs in minutes.

Common trapretrying every error the same way, when a 400 needs a fix, a 429 needs waiting and a 503 may succeed later.
