Stage 4 · Lesson 7 of 7

A written agreement and ownership

Pricing, scope and agreements

Before work starts, both sides should sign up to a . It covers scope, price, payment schedule, revisions and deadlines. It also covers (who owns it, and from when), confidentiality, and how either side can end the project.

On Upwork and Fiverr, the platform terms cover much of this. Your job there is to write the scope clearly in the contract or order. Direct need a signed agreement.

A free tool like the Contract Creator can draft one, which you then adapt to your country. Tie ownership of the work to full payment. Also agree whether you may show the work in your portfolio.

Common trapagreeing everything on a call and writing nothing down, then remembering it differently a month later.

A question to check yourself, an AI practice session and 2 cheat sheet entries come when you add the roadmap to your account. Add it
