Job search

Stage 2 · Lesson 7 of 8

Mirroring keywords and tailoring

Your resume

means using the 's exact words in your resume, wherever they are true for you. For each application, put the two side by side. If the posting says "" and "REST APIs", write those, not "SQL databases" and "web services", because recruiters search for the posting's own terms.

Keep one base resume per role type. Then spend 15 to 30 minutes it for each job: reorder bullets, adjust the order of your skills, and swap in the most relevant project. A tool like Jobscan can show which keywords are missing. Treat its score as a hint, not the goal.

Common trap: a resume that reads like a list of terms fails the human who opens it next.
