Reading a Gulf package

The offer and the move

Gulf offers are often split into a plus for housing, transport and sometimes schooling or annual flights. The split matters: in the UAE, the is calculated on the basic salary, so a low basic with large allowances shrinks it; in Saudi Arabia and Qatar, ask how the employer calculates it.

Check whether medical insurance covers your family, how many flights home a year are paid, the and the . In the UAE, your offer should match the contract registered with MOHRE; in Saudi Arabia, contracts are documented on Qiwa. Ask for the contract in English if it is also in Arabic, and read both.

Common trapagreeing to a verbal offer and signing a different registered contract on arrival, when it is much harder to refuse.
