    Upload scanned supporting documents and pay the application and test registration fees. Referees submit Teacher's Evaluations or Letters of Recommendation. Submit the financial aid application if you need aid.

    SBASSE undergraduate applicants need one of SAT, ACT or the LUMS Common Admission Test (LCAT). Graduate applicants take LGAT plus the SBASSE Subject Test.

  • Bachelors (BS)

    Matric with 70% or above and FSc/ICS with 70% or above; or A-Levels with an average of 2 Bs and 1 C across the best three subjects; or IBDP with at least 28 of 45 points; or an American High School Diploma with 70% or a B average. Full-credit A-Level subjects for SBASSE are Biology, Chemistry, Computing, Computer Science, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Information Technology and Physics.

  • Masters (MS or MPhil)

    16 years of education with a CGPA of at least 2.4/4 or 60% in all university degrees, and at least 60% in FSc. MS CS expects a degree in CS, SE, IT, Electrical or Computer Engineering or a closely related field with strong maths and programming.

  • PhD

    Official · LUMS PhD Computer Science programme page

    18 years of education: a master's with CGPA 3.0/4 or first division, a bachelor's with CGPA 2.4 or 60%, and at least 60% in FSc. The master's should be in CS, SE, IT, Electrical or Computer Engineering or a closely related field.

LUMS does not publish a merit formula with weights for undergraduate admission. The admissions site says applicants are judged on academic achievement alongside other parts of the application. For the Class of 2029/30 it reported an average FSc/ICS score of 88%, Matric 93% and SAT 1380.

The 13 CS core courses make up 42 credit hours. Students also take the SBASSE science core (34 credit hours), university core courses and courses outside SBASSE. NCEAC lists accredited batches up to Fall 2023, and in August 2026 approved an intake of up to six sections of 50 students a year.

How to actually get in

  • The undergraduate deadline falls in late January (27 January for Fall 2026), months before FSc results, so plan the application during your final year.
  • For SBASSE you need only one of SAT, ACT or LCAT. SAT scores were accepted until mid March and ACT until mid April in the Fall 2026 cycle, later than the LCAT date.
  • The minimum is 70% in both Matric and FSc/ICS, but the admitted class of 2029/30 averaged 88% in FSc/ICS and 93% in Matric.
  • Apply for financial aid at the same time: the Fall 2026 aid deadline (28 February) came before admission decisions.
  • LUMS publishes sample LCAT verbal and maths questions; practise with them.

About Lahore University of Management Sciences

The Lahore University of Management Sciences was established under the Lahore University of Management Sciences Order, 1985. Its sponsoring body, the National Management Foundation, was incorporated in November 1984 and received a charter from the Government of Pakistan in March 1985. LUMS describes itself as a not-for-profit university, and it began as a management school.

The Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE) opened in 2008, with classes starting in a building that was still under construction; the building was inaugurated in 2011 and the first batch graduated in 2012. Every SBASSE undergraduate takes a common science core of 34 credit hours across biology, chemistry, computing, electrical engineering, mathematics and physics before and alongside their major.

The Department of Computer Science offers BS, MS and PhD Computer Science. SBASSE also runs an MS in Artificial Intelligence, and a BSc (Honours) in Economics, Data and Computer Science is taught jointly with the Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences. NCEAC lists the BS Computer Science as accredited.
