What it is

Microsoft Student Ambassadors (previously Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors, and before that Microsoft Student Partners) is Microsoft's programme for students who want to learn its technologies and help other students do the same. Ambassadors run workshops and study groups, share content and take part in feedback sessions with Microsoft product teams. The 2026 relaunch opened it to students of all disciplines and organised progress into milestones.

Who can apply

Full-time students aged 18 or over at an accredited college or university. You need an Azure for Students account, which requires verifying your student status, usually with your institution's email. Some countries are excluded under US export rules, and former members removed from the programme cannot rejoin.

Timeline

There is no application window. Register at any time, finish the registration activities and you are invited to onboard. Progress is at your own pace.

How to get in

  1. Set up Azure for Students with your school email first; it is a requirement.
  2. Register through the Student Ambassadors page and select "Get started".
  3. Complete the registration activities to receive your invitation.
  4. Run something real early: a workshop for your class, a study group for a Microsoft certification or a small community project.

What you get

Microsoft lists Microsoft 365, Visual Studio Enterprise, $150 USD of Azure credits each month, badges and swag, plus calls with Microsoft teams. Benefits can change, so check the current list after you join.

Things to watch

The title alone does not impress employers; the events you ran and what you built do. Keep a record of each session, attendance and feedback.
