University to job-ready (Third year)

Opens with credits

For university students whose degree covers the syllabus but not the job: what to do alongside your courses, from first year to final year. By the end you have finished projects on GitHub, a steady problem-solving habit, real experience and applications going out every week.

Curated by Tauseef Fayyaz8 stages, 64 topics~25 months at a few hours a week

By the end, you will be able to

  • Build, test and deploy a project in one language from an empty folder, without a tutorial open
  • Show a GitHub profile with a profile README and at least three finished, documented projects
  • Solve easy and medium problems by pattern and explain the approach and its Big-O out loud
  • Point to real experience: an internship, merged open source pull requests, freelance or campus work
  • Run a weekly application rhythm with a one-page resume, a complete LinkedIn and referrals

The path

8 stages, in the order to learn them. Open one to start.

  1. 1Fill the gaps your courses leftTwo years of courses leave most students able to follow code but not write it from scratch. Spend a few focused weeks making one language genuinely yours before internship season.7 topics · ~3 months
  2. 2Git and GitHub as your portfolioPut every program you write on GitHub from the first semester. By final year your commits, READMEs and profile say more about you than your transcript does.9 topics · ~4 weeks
  3. Problem solving, a little every weekCoding rounds test data structures and patterns, and cramming them in final year rarely works. A small, steady habit alongside your courses gets you there without a grind.10 topics · ~4 monthsOpens with credits
  4. Real projects, one per semesterYou have about two semesters before most internship applications. Build two projects that grow in scope, and finish each to the standard a team would expect: tested, reviewed and deployed.8 topics · ~6 monthsOpens with credits
  5. Pick a direction and go one level deeperGeneralists struggle to get shortlisted. Choose one direction, such as web, mobile, AI or cloud, go deeper than your electives, and start learning how real systems are designed.8 topics · ~5 monthsOpens with credits
  6. Your resume, LinkedIn and networkBefore you apply for your first internship, get a one-page resume built on projects, a complete LinkedIn and real connections with engineers. The Job search and LinkedIn roadmaps go deeper.7 topics · ~3 weeksOpens with credits
  7. Get experience before final yearInternship season is close. Apply for summer internships now, and build open source or freelance experience in parallel so you have real work to show either way.7 topics · ~4 monthsOpens with credits
  8. Apply before you feel readyYour summer internship applications are your first real hiring season. Build the rhythm now: tailored applications every week, referrals from seniors, and practice for online assessments and coding rounds.8 topics · ~3 monthsOpens with credits

Everything here is free to learn from. A few things, like adding a roadmap, keeping a cheat sheet or asking Tauseef a question, use credits. You get 15 when you join, your first roadmap is free, and if you are learning seriously and run out, you can ask for more.
