What this checklist is
A section-by-section LinkedIn profile checklist for developers and CS students. It covers the parts recruiters and hiring managers look at first, how to write experience as outcomes, how Open to Work visibility really works, and the privacy settings worth checking before you start a job search.
It has 7 chapters and 30 checks, each with how to verify it and how much it matters. For developers, students and fresh graduates.
Chapter by chapter
1. Photo, banner, headline and URL (4 checks)
The top of your profile is what shows in search results, comments and connection requests. Get these four right before anything else.
2. About section, Featured and projects (5 checks)
The About section and Featured section are where a visitor decides whether to keep reading. Use them to show proof, not adjectives.
3. Experience written as outcomes (4 checks)
How to turn job, internship and student roles into entries that show impact, and how to connect them to your skills.
4. Skills, endorsements and recommendations (4 checks)
How to pick skills people will search for, and how to get recommendations that carry weight.
5. Open to Work and recruiter search (5 checks)
How the Open to Work feature works, the visibility trade-off it involves, and the basics of showing up when recruiters search.
6. Activity and posting (4 checks)
Your recent activity shows on your profile. A little consistent, genuine activity helps people remember you.
7. Privacy settings to check (4 checks)
A few settings control what your network is told, what search engines see and how you appear when you view profiles.
How it works on Sefism
The checklist is one page: each check has a severity (must, should or nice to have) and a concrete way to verify it, and members can tick checks off as they go. Every chapter is open to everyone.
Every claim is checked against the sources listed on the page (7 cited).
