AI data and training work

Stage 2 · Lesson 6 of 7

Disturbing content and your wellbeing

The honest picture

Some projects ask you to review harmful material so models learn to refuse or flag it: violence, hate speech, self-harm or sexual content. Safety and moderation work is important, but it can affect you. Good platforms say in advance when a project involves sensitive content, let you opt out, and offer guidance and support.

's FAQ, for example, describes training, clear guidelines and a support channel for contributors on such projects. Read a project's description before you join, and choose whether you want this kind of work at all. If you take it, set limits: short sessions, breaks, and stopping when it affects your sleep or mood.
