The fair-code licence
n8n is "", not in the strict sense. Strict open source lets anyone use the code for any purpose, including selling it as a service. n8n's Sustainable Use License is narrower. It lets you use, change and self-host n8n for internal business use and personal use. n8n's own licence page says consultants may build workflows for clients.
What it does not allow, without a separate commercial agreement, is offering n8n itself as a hosted service that customers log into. Nor may you embed it in a product you sell. Enterprise features sit under a separate n8n Enterprise License. Read the official page yourself before quoting it to a client.
Common trapselling "your own automation platform" that is really a rebranded n8n instance, which the licence does not permit.
