Stage 2 · Lesson 3 of 7

Classes, combo classes and naming

Webflow: Designer, classes and CMS

In Webflow, styles live on , which are named sets of styles. You reuse one class across many elements. A combo class adds a variation on top of a base class, such as button plus is-secondary for a second button style.

A small set of well named classes keeps a site consistent, and changing every button becomes a single edit. Naming systems such as Client-First give you rules to follow. That also helps when another developer or the client opens the project later.

Before building sections, plan your text styles, colours as variables, spacing and a few (small classes that do one job).

Common trapletting Webflow create a new class for every element, which leaves hundreds of near duplicate classes that nobody can safely change.
