The kinds of funding
Funding comes in a few forms. A from a government or foundation covers tuition, living costs and travel, but these are very competitive. A or fee waiver from a university usually covers part of tuition.
Research degrees are often funded through a salary, a (a regular living allowance) or an , which is paid teaching or research work. Some countries have public universities with low or no tuition. Family money and fill the gap.
Most students combine two or three sources. Knowing the forms tells you where to look and what each expects. Government scholarships care about leadership and your home country, while assistantships care about research and teaching ability.
