Stage 5 · Lesson 5 of 7
Test the market once a year
Interviewing is a skill that fades if you do not use it. Many engineers who are laid off after years at one company find they cannot pass interviews they would once have passed easily. Once a year, test the market: talk to a , do one or two real interviews, or at least a practice round.
You will learn what the market pays for your skills (levels.fyi and Glassdoor help too), which skills are being asked for and how rusty you are. You do not have to accept anything.
Common traptreating this as disloyal. It is maintenance, like a health check, and it often helps you ask for a fair raise where you are.
A question to check yourself, an AI practice session and 1 cheat sheet entry come when you add the roadmap to your account. Add it
