Stage 5 · Lesson 4 of 7
Keep your network warm
A large share of jobs are filled through , and after a layoff the people who find work fastest usually find it through people they know. But a network you only contact when you need something is cold. Keeping it warm is small and regular: congratulate former colleagues on new roles, share something useful, reply to people who ask you for advice, meet one person outside your company each month.
Keep a simple list of 30 to 50 people you would contact if you lost your job, and make sure you have touched each one in the last year.
Common trapthinking networking means collecting connections. Fifty people who would answer your message are worth more than five thousand who would not.
A question to check yourself, an AI practice session and 2 cheat sheet entries come when you add the roadmap to your account. Add it
