Stage 4 · Lesson 3 of 7
Recovering properly
Rest is not only sleep. Recovery from pressure comes from switching off from work mentally, doing something relaxing, doing something absorbing that is not work, and having some control over your time. Scrolling on your phone often feels like rest but rarely leaves you recovered.
Plan recovery like you plan work: a fixed finishing time on most days, one full day off a week where possible, time outdoors, time with people, and something you do for its own sake, like sport, cooking, music or prayer. If you work or study from home, create a clear end to the day, such as a walk.
For real burnout, you may also need to reduce the load itself: drop a course, ask for an extension, or talk to your manager.
Common trapplanning rest only for after the deadline, which never comes.
