Stage 1 · Lesson 2 of 6
Mental health is something everyone has
The World Health Organization describes mental health as a state of wellbeing that lets you cope with the normal stresses of life, learn well, work well and contribute to your community. It is not the same as having or not having a mental illness.
Think of it as a scale that moves: you can be thriving one month, stretched thin during exams, and struggling after a breakup or a rejection. Moving down the scale is a normal human response to hard events, not a sign that something is broken in you.
Looking after your mental health is a skill, like looking after your body, and it is easier to practise when things are calm.
Common trapthinking mental health is only something to think about once you are already unwell.
