LinkedIn and personal branding

Stage 1 · Lesson 4 of 7

Your audience

Your niche and story

Your is the specific group of people you want to be useful to. Naming it changes how you write. "Developers" is too wide.

"Final-year computer science students applying for their first role" is much better. So is " engineers moving into ". A narrow group tells you which problems to write about, which words to use, and what to explain or skip.

Include the people who make decisions about your career. and engineers on teams you would like to join read the same posts. When you write, picture one real person from that group.

Common trapwriting for your peers' approval instead of your audience's problems, which gives you clever posts that nobody needed.
