Stage 7 · Lesson 3 of 5
How your new team works
Workplace culture differs more than code does. Notice how decisions are made, how direct feedback is, whether people speak up in meetings or after them, how formal email is, how much people work after hours and how leave is taken. German teams often value directness and planning, UK teams use more indirect language, Japanese teams lean on consensus building before meetings, and Gulf workplaces mix many cultures with clear hierarchy.
These are tendencies, not rules; watch your own team. Ask your manager in the first week what good looks like at three months, and write it down. Pass your probation by delivering small things reliably and making your work visible.
Common trapeither copying how things worked at home or changing yourself so much that you stop asking questions.
