How admission works
- 1
Register online for a NET series
Official · NUST: Procedure of admission on the basis of NET +1Online applicationBachelors (BS)Create an account on the NUST UG admissions portal, fill the form for a NET series, print the fee invoice and pay at any HBL branch. Each series needs a separate registration. Computer-based candidates pick a test date and session.
- 2
Sit the NUST Entry Test (NET)
Official · NUST: Procedure of admission on the basis of NET +2Entry testBachelors (BS)Computing and engineering applicants take NET-Engineering. You may sit more than one series; the best score is used for merit. ACT/SAT is an alternative route with its own application form.
- 3
Merit generation and preference edits
Official · NUST: Undergraduate admission and selection processMerit listBachelors (BS)Merit lists for NET and ACT/SAT seats are generated around the last week of July. Candidates get one to two days to edit programme preferences within each discipline group, such as Computing or Engineering.
- 4
Pay admission dues on time
Official · NUST: Undergraduate admission and selection processFee and confirmationBachelors (BS)Selected candidates download the provisional selection letter and fee invoice from the portal and pay at HBL. Missing the deadline removes you from the selection process for that discipline. Paying keeps you in line for upgrades to higher preferences.
- 5
Send documents and join
Official · NUST: Undergraduate admission and selection processDocument verificationBachelors (BS)Send the paid invoice with copies of academic documents to the Registrar Directorate, and bring originals, attested by IBCC, to the school at joining along with a medical certificate and affidavit.
- 6Classes beginBachelors (BS)
Engineering and computing programmes at SEECS, MCS, CEME, PNEC and NBC started in September in the 2025 schedule. Selection continues until about the second week after classes start at H-12.
- 7
Apply online for MS
Official · NUST masters: Dates to remember +1Online applicationMasters (MS or MPhil)Apply on pgadmission.nust.edu.pk with a valid GAT (General), GNET, HAT, GRE or GMAT score. Merit uses CGPA and the test score; interviews are generally not held.

University's own testOfficial · NUST: Subjects included in NET with weightings +3For bachelors
200 MCQs in 180 minutes, four options each, no negative marking. Weighting: Mathematics 50%, Physics 30%, English 20%. Computer-based at Islamabad and Quetta, paper-based at Karachi and Gilgit.
Taken by all applicants to engineering and computing programmes, including Pre-Medical and ICS candidates and those with Mathematics as a major HSSC subject. It is based on SSC and HSSC syllabi; the English section follows the SAT pattern. You can sit several series and the best score counts.

Bachelors (BS)
Official · NUST: Eligibility criteria for UG programmesMinimum 60% marks in each of SSC and HSSC or equivalent (IBCC equivalence for O/A Level). You can apply on HSSC Part-I marks, but admission is confirmed only on the final result.
BS Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Bioinformatics: HSSC Pre-Engineering, Computer Science (ICS), Pre-Medical, or any HSSC with Mathematics as a mandatory subject. Pre-Medical students admitted without additional Mathematics must clear 6 credit hours of deficiency Mathematics within one year.
Engineering programmes (including Software Engineering, Computer Engineering and Information Security): SSC Science plus HSSC Pre-Engineering, ICS or Pre-Medical. Pre-Medical candidates without additional Mathematics must clear NUST's 8-week condensed Mathematics course before admission; ICS candidates clear Chemistry as a remedial course in the first semester.
Masters (MS or MPhil)
Official · NUST masters: Eligibility criteria16 years of education in a relevant discipline with CGPA 2.0/4.0 or 55% marks, plus a qualifying test score (see entry tests). Degrees must be HEC/PEC accredited as applicable. MS Computer Science, Data Science and AI applicants who did not study OOP, Data Structures and Algorithms or Database Systems must take NUST's self-paced foundation courses.
Bachelors admission is central: one NET, one merit list, then programmes are offered by preference and merit position across NUST schools. The admission policy pages were read from the Fall 2025 and Fall 2026 cycles; dates and fees are revised every year, so confirm on the NUST admissions site.

How to actually get in
- Take more than one NET series. Each series needs its own registration and fee, and NUST uses your best score for merit.
- NET is 75% of merit. HSSC counts 15% and SSC 10%, so the test decides most of your position.
- Computing and engineering use the same paper (NET-Engineering: Mathematics 50%, Physics 30%, English 20%), so one attempt keeps both routes open.
- Pick preferences you would actually accept. Offers follow your listed preferences and merit, and you must pay admission dues on time to stay in line for an upgrade.
- Apply for need-based aid at the same time. The NFAAF deadline is the admission form deadline; late forms are not considered.
- Pre-Medical students can apply to computing, but must clear 6 credit hours of deficiency Mathematics within the first year.
- Get documents attested by IBCC before joining, including Matric and FSc certificates.
About National University of Sciences and Technology
The National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) was established in 1991. Its main campus is in sector H-12, Islamabad, and it runs constituent schools and colleges in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Risalpur, Karachi and Quetta. The Military College of Signals (MCS) in Rawalpindi, raised in 1947 as the School of Signals, was the first constituent college of NUST.
Most computing degrees sit at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS) in H-12, which offers BS Computer Science, BS Artificial Intelligence, BS Data Science, Bachelor of Software Engineering and Bachelor of Computer Engineering, plus MS and PhD programmes in computer science, information technology, information security, data science and artificial intelligence. MCS offers Software Engineering and BE Information Security, and the College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (CEME) in Rawalpindi offers Computer Engineering. NUST Balochistan Campus in Quetta offers BS Computer Science and BS Artificial Intelligence.
All bachelors admissions run through one central process: the NUST Entry Test (NET), held in several series each year, followed by a single merit list and preference-based selection across programmes. NUST lists itself at #371 in the QS World University Rankings 2026.

Every claim here is labelled
Admission dates, tests, merit formulas and fees change every cycle, and not all of it is published in one place. Every claim here is labelled with its source and how well established it is. Treat the university's own admissions page as the last word, and tell me when something is out of date.
Nobody pays to be listed here, and nothing on this page is sponsored. Universities cannot buy a higher position or have a profile removed on request, though I will correct anything that is wrong.
