Stage 3 · Lesson 3 of 6
Your own timeline
People's paths differ for reasons you cannot see: money, family duties, health, location, field, connections and luck. One friend gets a job abroad at 23; another starts working at 27 after supporting family; another switches careers at 30 and does well.
Your timeline is shaped by your circumstances and choices, not by a race. A useful question is not "Am I ahead of them?" but "Am I moving forward compared with where I was six months ago?" Write down where you were a year ago and what has changed: skills, projects, relationships, understanding. Most people underestimate their own progress.
Common trapusing someone else's announcement as your deadline, which turns their good news into your stress.
