Stage 1 · Lesson 6 of 7
Billing data is late and keeps changing
Cost data is not real time. Providers process usage in batches, so cost tools are usually hours behind, and AWS, for example, refreshes most cost data up to a few times a day. Charges for a month can still change for a few days after it ends: Microsoft notes that finalising starts 72 hours after the closes.
, refunds and taxes may arrive later still. This shapes how you work: daily reviews look at yesterday, not the last hour, and month-end reports wait until the data settles.
Common trapreporting a month's total on the 1st, then explaining why the number changed on the 4th.
