Stage 5 · Lesson 3 of 7
Running useful one-on-ones
A is a regular private meeting with your manager, usually every week or every two weeks. It belongs to you as much as to them, so bring an agenda. For example: a win, something you are stuck on, a question about expectations or probation, and a request for feedback.
Use it for things that do not fit in : how you are finding the work, what you want to learn, and worries about workload or the team. Keep a shared running document so topics carry over from one meeting to the next. Your manager can only help with what they know about.
Common traparriving with nothing and letting every one-on-one turn into a repeat of standup, then wondering why your manager does not know your goals.
A question to check yourself, an AI practice session and 1 cheat sheet entry come when you add the roadmap to your account. Add it
