Stage 3 · Lesson 1 of 8
Standups that help the team
A is a short daily meeting, often 15 minutes, where the team checks progress toward its current goal. It is for the team, not a report to your manager. A useful update has three parts: what moved since yesterday, what you will do next, and anything blocking you.
A is anything that stops your progress. Keep your update to about 30 seconds. Take detailed discussions to a follow-up with just the people involved.
Mentioning a blocker in standup is the cheapest way to get help; the communication stage covers raising blockers in more depth. Remote teams often do standups in writing instead.
Common traplisting every small task you touched to sound busy, which hides the one thing people needed to hear.
A question to check yourself, an AI practice session and 1 cheat sheet entry come when you add the roadmap to your account. Add it
