Move towards work that builds with AI
There is a difference between work AI does and work that builds with AI. The first shrinks; the second is where much of the new hiring is. means adding calls to real products, over company data, that call tools, that check whether an AI feature works, and the security, cost and reliability around them.
You do not need to become a machine learning researcher. Most of this is normal software engineering with a model in the middle. Look for one AI feature your team or company is planning and offer to help, or build a small one yourself.
Indeed found that more than a third of the recent growth in software postings came from jobs with "AI" in the title.
