Stage 3 · Lesson 4 of 7
Telling your family about results
For many students the hardest part of a bad result is telling parents, especially when they have paid fees or told relatives about your plans. Tell them yourself, early, before they hear it from someone else. Lead with the fact, then what you have learned and what you will do next: "I failed Data Structures.
I have looked at my paper, I lost marks on the problem questions, and the resit is in January. Here is my plan." A plan does not remove their disappointment, but it changes the conversation from blame to next steps.
Common traphiding results for months, which turns one failed exam into a question of trust.
