Speaking and being heard

Stage 2 · Lesson 1 of 6

Why your question helps others too

Asking questions in class and at work

When you do not understand something in class, there are usually several other people confused about the same point and waiting for someone else to ask. Teachers often say the best part of a lecture is the questions, because they show where the explanation did not land.

At work, a question asked early saves days of building the wrong thing. Managers worry more about the new hire who never asks than the one who asks too much. Questions can still be well or badly asked, which the next topics cover.

Common trapstaying silent to look clever, then spending hours confused or getting the task wrong.

A question to check yourself come when you add the roadmap to your account. Add it
