Speaking and being heard

Stage 2 · Lesson 6 of 6

Follow-up questions and checking you understood

Asking questions in class and at work

After someone answers, it is fine to ask again if you still do not understand. A useful way is to repeat back what you heard: "So if I understand correctly, I should run the migration as admin first, then the seed script?" This catches misunderstandings early and shows you were listening.

It is especially helpful when you are working in a second language or on a call with a poor connection. Write down answers so you do not need to ask the same thing twice.

Common trapnodding along to avoid looking slow, then doing the task wrong and having to admit it later anyway.
