Stage 7 · Lesson 3 of 6
Saying no without guilt
Many people, especially early in their careers or raised to please elders, say yes to everything: extra tasks, favours, weekend work. Then they burn out or do everything badly. Saying no clearly and kindly is a professional skill.
Useful shapes: "I cannot take this on this week because I am finishing X. I could look at it on Monday." Or, to a manager: "I can do this, but then Y will be late.
Which matters more?" Give a reason, offer an alternative if you have one, and keep it short.
Common trapa vague maybe, which feels kinder but leaves the other person planning on you, and lets everyone down later.
