Stage 3 · Lesson 7 of 7
Find a place to practise regularly
Like any skill, speaking improves with regular practice and feedback. Toastmasters International runs clubs in many cities and online, where members give short prepared and impromptu speeches and receive structured feedback; many universities and companies host their own clubs.
Student societies, tech community meetups and Google Developer Groups often welcome short lightning talks from beginners. Volunteering to present in your study group or team demo is practice too. Free courses such as the University of Washington's Introduction to Public Speaking on Coursera teach the basics with examples.
Common traponly speaking when it is required and graded, which gives you too few chances to improve.
