Stage 6 · Lesson 4 of 6
Help your university or workplace already offers
Universities and many employers offer support that students and new staff rarely use: counselling centres, student advisers, teachers' office hours, writing and maths support, financial aid, disability services, careers offices, peer mentoring programmes and student welfare societies.
Many companies have mentors, buddies for new joiners, or confidential employee support lines. These exist because many people need them; using them is normal, not a sign of weakness. Find out what yours offers before you need it, so it is not one more thing to search for on a bad day.
Common trapassuming support is only for people in serious trouble. Most of it is for ordinary problems.
