Stage 5 · Lesson 2 of 6
Going to events in person
In-person events, such as meetups, tech talks, workshops, job fairs and society gatherings, create connections faster than months of online chat. Going alone can feel hard, so make it easier: arrive early when groups are small, set a goal of two real conversations, ask the organiser to introduce you to someone, and leave when you are tired.
After the event, connect on LinkedIn with a short note mentioning what you talked about. Go back to the same series, because regulars get to know each other.
Common trapgoing once, standing at the side looking at your phone, and deciding events are not for you.
