What clients actually buy
Before any tool: the kinds of video businesses pay for (ad creatives, UGC-style ads, explainers, shorts and avatar videos), why AI changed the price and speed of each, and where demand is heading.
Start: What the demand data saysLessons· one lesson for each topic, in this order
Do this
- Read the Upwork In-Demand Skills 2026 summary and write down what was measured.
- Study ten live ads or assets in the Meta Ad Library or TikTok Top Ads and note the hook in each.
- Save five real job posts for AI video or image work and list what each asks for.
- Write your service in one sentence: format, kind of client, result.
- List three businesses you know personally that could use it.

Also worth your time
Before moving on: A one-page market note: ten real video ads or shorts you studied in the Meta Ad Library or TikTok Top Ads, what each one sells and how, five real job posts for AI video work, and one sentence describing the video service you will offer.

Spend a week looking before you make anything. Open the Meta Ad Library and search brands you know; read twenty job posts. You will see the same requests again and again, and that is your syllabus. Platforms, profiles and proposals are covered once, properly, in the Freelancing roadmap (/roadmaps/freelancing/), so this roadmap does not repeat them. Whether this can become a full career is answered honestly in the question on AI image and video careers (/questions/can-i-make-a-career-with-ai-image-and-video-generation/).
