Stage 7 · Lesson 3 of 8
Use your network and referrals
This is when the from the insurance stage pays off. Post a short, positive note on : what happened, the roles you want, where, and what you are good at. Then message people one at a time, because a personal message gets far more help than a public post.
Ask for something specific and small: "Is your team hiring backend engineers, and would you be comfortable referring me?" or "Could you spare 15 minutes to tell me how hiring works at your company?" Make it easy: send your CV and a two-line summary they can forward. Many companies also run alumni networks for people they laid off.
Common trapbeing too proud or too embarrassed to ask. Most people want to help someone who was laid off; they just need to know what to do.
A question to check yourself, an AI practice session and 2 cheat sheet entries come when you add the roadmap to your account. Add it
