Layoffs and AI: stay hard to cut, bounce back if it happens

Stage 7 · Lesson 2 of 8

Run the search as a weekly pipeline

Bounce back: the search after a layoff

A is the list of every opportunity you are pursuing and the stage it has reached: researched, applied, referred, call, interviews, offer. Track it in a simple sheet and review it every week. It shows you where the search is stuck.

Many applications and no replies means the CV or targeting is off. Many first calls and no second rounds means interview practice is needed. Set weekly targets you control, such as ten tailored applications, five requests and two practice interviews, instead of targets you do not control, such as offers. Keep a regular working day for the search, and then stop.

Common trapspraying hundreds of identical applications. It feels productive, rarely works and hides what is actually going wrong.
