Knowing yourself: strengths, values and what you actually want

Stage 7 · Lesson 5 of 7

Choosing a job that fits

Turn self-knowledge into choices

When you have a job offer, or several, compare them against your criteria. Salary matters, and so do the team, your manager, what you will learn in the first year, the hours, the commute or remote setup, and whether the work uses your strengths.

Ask in the process: what does a normal week look like, how are new people supported, what did the last person in this role move on to? Notice how you feel after talking to the people you would work with. Be honest about constraints too: sometimes you take the job that pays the bills now and plan the next move, and that can be a wise choice.

Common trapchoosing only on brand name or salary and ignoring the daily reality that you will live with.
