Knowing yourself: strengths, values and what you actually want

Stage 7 · Lesson 7 of 7

Review it every year

Turn self-knowledge into choices

You will change. Your values may shift after a first job, a marriage, a move or a loss. Strengths grow with practice.

What drained you at 20 may energise you at 25. So treat self-knowledge as something you update, not a test you passed. Once a year, perhaps on your birthday or at the start of the academic year, reread your journal, your strengths page, your values and your criteria.

Write a new one-page snapshot and compare it with the old one. Ask: what changed, what stayed, and does my current path still fit? Ask a couple of loving critics for fresh feedback.

Common trapbuilding your whole life around a version of yourself from years ago that no longer exists.
