Knowing yourself: strengths, values and what you actually want

Stage 7 · Lesson 1 of 7

Turn what you know into criteria

Turn self-knowledge into choices

Everything you have collected so far becomes useful when you turn it into a short list of criteria for choices. Take your top strengths, values, energisers and the feedback patterns, and write five to seven statements like: "I need to keep learning", "I work best with people, not alone all day", "I need a stable income for my family for the next three years", "I want to build things others use".

Include real constraints, such as money, location and family duties, because they are part of the decision too. Rank them. You now have a lens for comparing any option.

Common trapturning self-knowledge into one dream job title, which is fragile, instead of criteria that many different paths could meet.
