Knowing yourself: strengths, values and what you actually want

Stage 7 · Lesson 4 of 7

Test before you commit

Turn self-knowledge into choices

You learn more about a path by trying a small piece of it than by thinking about it for months. Talk to people already doing it: a 20-minute conversation with someone two or three years ahead of you is gold. Ask what a normal day is like and what surprised them.

Try a short course or a weekend project in the area. Volunteer, shadow someone or do a short internship. Each experiment should be cheap, quick and answer one question, such as "Do I enjoy the day-to-day of data work?". Write down what you learned after each one.

Common trapeither committing years to a path you have never tried, or researching forever and never testing anything at all.

A question to check yourself and an AI practice session come when you add the roadmap to your account. Add it
