Stage 1 · Lesson 2 of 6
Being alone is not the same as being lonely
Solitude and loneliness are different. Being alone can be restful and productive: studying, walking, thinking, recharging. Loneliness is the painful feeling that the connection you have is less than the connection you need.
You can be alone and content, or in a crowded hostel, a busy office or a big family and still feel lonely, because nobody there really knows you. That is why the answer is not always more people. Sometimes it is one or two deeper conversations. Introverts and extroverts need different amounts, and both are normal.
Common trapfilling every hour with noise, calls and scrolling, then still feeling lonely because nothing in it was a real connection.
