Iterators and aggregators

Make in depth

Lists are the most common source of confusion in Make, and two kinds of module handle them. Think of unpacking a box and packing it again. An takes one bundle that contains a list (an ), such as an order with ten .

It splits it into ten bundles, so each item can be processed on its own. An aggregator does the reverse. It collects many bundles back into one: a block of text for an email, an array for an call or a file. Each aggregator has a source module, which marks where the grouping starts.

Common trapforgetting the aggregator and sending ten emails instead of one summary, or choosing the wrong source module so the grouping includes data from the wrong run.
